So you will know I’m still here, I’m posting this slice of my work in progress, which feels like it’s stuck forever “in progress.”
It’s this thing I like to do with select photos of mine, images of something of questionable beauty. (In this case, it’s the dead flower I posted awhile back.) I add drama. Deeper darks, brighter lights, texture where there was none, crannies that pop and crispier edges more fragile than puff pastry. I play with colors, saturating some, fading others.
When the process concludes, that something may still be of questionable beauty to those saw it that way before, but that’s not the point. The point is to explore the overlooked. And make it be noticed.
The last photograph I manipulated in this way was the shedding tree.
Give me a few more days, and I hope I’ll be able to tell you about my recent sock dissection or another project.
